ประวัติความเป็นมา

19 พ.ค. 2501 นายธิโอดอร์ ฮอยซ์ (Theodor Heuss )ประธานาธิบดีคนแรกของสหพันธรัฐเยอรมนีภายหลังสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 2 ก่อตั้ง มูลนิธิฟรีดริช เนามัน ณ ที่พำนักเป็นทางการของเขาในวิลลา แฮมเมอร์ชมิดต์ (Villa Hammerschmidt) ในกรุงบอร์น
2502 นายแวร์เนอร์ ชเตฟาน (Werner Stephan) ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการคนแรกของมูลนิธิ และการเปิดตัวนิตยสาร “Liberal” ขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรก
2506 สำนักงานใหญ่ในประเทศเยอรมัน จัดตั้งแผนกใหม่เฉพาะเพื่อดำเนินงานกิจกรรมระหว่างประเทศ
2507 จัดตั้งศูนย์การศึกษาแห่งในประเทศตูนีเซีย เพื่อดำเนินโครงการในต่างประเทศเป็นครั้งแรก
2508 กิจกรรมต่างประเทศครั้งแรกของมูลนิธิ คือการพัฒนาประชาธิปไตยในกลุ่มประเทศลาติน อเมริกาให้เข้มแข็ง
2509 หน้าที่สำคัญของมูลนิธิ ในต่างประเทศ คือ การให้การอบรมขั้นพื้นฐานและขั้นสูงแก่ผู้บริหาร
2510 เปิดสถาบัน Theodor Heuss Academy ในเมืองกุมเมอรส์บาค (Gummersbach) เพื่อให้การอบรมและการศึกษาด้านรัฐศาสตร์และการเมือง
2516-17 มูลนิธิริเริ่มโครงการให้ทุนการศึกษา
2518 มูลนิธิขยายกิจกรรมในต่างประเทศในภาคพื้นยุโรปใต้โดยให้การสนับสนุนการเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อประชาธิปไตยในประเทศสเปน โปรตุเกส และกรีซ
2521 มูลนิธิเริ่มดำเนินกิจกรรมในประเทศเม็กซิโก
2525 มูลนิธิขยายการดำเนินกิจกรรมไปยังประเทศอาร์เจนติน่า
2527 มูลนิธิเปิด The Liberal Archive อย่างเป็นทางการในเมืองกุมเมอรส์บาค และย้ายสำนักงานใหญ่ไปที่เมือง Margarethenhöhe ใน Königswinter.
2528 มูลนิธิ เปิดสำนักงานภูมิภาคในกรุงบรัสเซลและให้บริการการจัดประชุมนานาชาติ รวมทั้งหาโอกาสในการร่วมทุนกับคณะกรรมาธิการยุโรป
2531 ก่อตั้งสถาบัน The International Academy for Leadership ในเมือง Sintra ประเทศโปรตุเกส
2533 ก่อตั้งสำนักงาน Berlin-Brandenburg เพื่อให้การศึกษาแก่พลเมืองในรัฐทางตะวันออกของเยอรมัน ได้แก่ Länder Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt และ Thuringia ต่อมามูลนิธิเริ่มขยายโครงการให้การศึกษาแก่พลเมืองในภาคกลาง ภาคตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ และภาคตะวันออกของยุโรป
2534 ปรับโครงสร้างองค์กรและมอบหมายให้สำนักงานส่วนภูมิภาคดำเนินงานและประสานงานระดับนานาชาติ ตามแต่ละภูมิภาค
2536 ก่อตั้ง คณะมนตรีของกลุ่มเสรีนิยมและประชาธิปไตยแห่งเอเชีย (The Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats - CALD)
2538
- สถาบัน Theodor Heuss Academy เข้าควบคุมการดำเนินงานของสถาบัน International Academy for Leadership หรือ IAF ในเมือง กุมเมอรส์บาค
- ดร. ออตโต กราฟ ลัมส์ดอร์ฟ (Otto Graf Lambsdorff) ได้รับเลือกให้เป็นประธานคณะกรรมการ และนายรอฟ แบร์นด์ (Rolf Berndt) ได้รับเลือกให้เป็นประธานคณะกรรมการบริหาร
- จัดตั้งสถาบันเสรีนิยมของมูลนิธิขึ้นในปีเดียวกัน
2539 ดร. เยอร์เกน มอร์ล็อก (Jürgen Morlok) ได้รับเลือกเป็นประธานคณะกรรมการที่ได้รับมอบหมายให้จัดการดูแล
2542-43 ย้ายสำนักงานใหญ่ไปที่เมืองพอตส์แดม (Potsdam)
2543 จัดให้มีการอภิปรายในหัวข้อ “สิทธิของชนกลุ่มน้อย” ซึ่งได้รับการแก้ไขและนำไปใช้ในการประชุมเกี่ยวกับชนกลุ่มน้อยครั้งที่สองของมูลนิธิ ฟรีดริช เนสมัน ที่จัดในกรุงเบอร์ลิน
2544 มูลนิธิเริ่มโครงการให้การศึกษาเกี่ยวกับสิทธิหน้าที่ของพลเมือง ในประเทศเยอรมัน จัดตั้งสำนักงานภูมิภาคในเมืองฮัลเลอ ฮันโนเวอร์ ลูเบ็ค และวีส์บาเดน (Halle, Hanover, Lübeck และ Wiesbaden) และในเมืองสตุชการ์ด (2545), มิวนิค (2547) และฮัมบวร์ก (2547)
2544 ย้ายสำนักงานใหญ่ไปที่ ทรูแมน เฮาส์ (Truman House) ในเมืองพอตส์แดม
2545 Virtuelle Akademie ซึ่งเป็นผู้ให้บริการการศึกษาเกี่ยวกับสิทธิหน้าที่ของพลเมืองออนไลน์แห่งแรกของประเทศเยอรมัน เปิดโครงการแรกของสถาบัน
2546 เริ่มดำเนินงานเครือข่ายเสรีนิยมในแอฟริกา (African Liberal Network หรือ ALN) ในเมืองโจฮันแนสเบิร์ก
2547 เริ่มดำเนินงานเครือข่ายเสรีนิยมในลาตินอเมริกา (Liberal Network Latin America หรือ RELIAL) ในประเทศเม็กซิโก
2548
- Virtuelle Akademie หรือสถาบันการศึกษาออนไลน์ได้รับรางวัล eureleA สำหรับการให้บริการการศึกษาแบบ e-learning
- มูลนิธิและดร. ออตโต กราฟ ลัมส์ดอร์ฟ ได้รับรางวัล Light of Truth Award จากองค์ดาไลลามะของธิเบต
2549
- นายโวล์ฟกัง แกร์ฮาร์ด ( Wolfgang Gerhardt) ได้รับเลือกเป็นประธานคณะกรรมการ
- จัดตั้ง The Congress of the Arab Network for Economic Freedom ในกรุงเบรุต
- จัดตั้ง The Al-Mena (พันธมิตรเสรีนิยมในภูมิภาคตะวันออกกลางและอเมริกาเหนือ) ในกรุงไคโร
2550 มูลนิธิเปลี่ยนคำขวัญเป็น “für die Freiheit” ซึ่งหมายความว่า “เพื่อเสรีภาพ” เพื่อเน้นเป้าหมายหลักของมูลนิธิในการขยายความมีสิทธิเสรีภาพ
2551 มูลนิธิฉลองครบรอบ 50 ปี ณ.สำนักงานใหญ่ ประเทศสหพันสาธารณรัฐเยอรมนีและสำนักงานภูมิภาคทั่วโลก

มูลนิธิฟรีดริช เนามัน (Friedrich Naumann Foundation) เป็นองค์กรที่ไม่แสวงหาผลกำไรจากประเทศสหพันสาธารณรัฐเยอรมนี จัดตั้งขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์หลักเพื่อการสนับสนุนด้านการศึกษาอย่างกว้างขวางของประชาชน โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งด้านการส่งเสริมการให้ความรู้ทางด้านการเมืองและหน้าที่พลเมือง (Civic Education) สนับสนุนประชาธิปไตย (Democracy) สิทธิมนุษยชน (Human Rights) และเสรีภาพทางเศรษฐกิจ (Economic Freedom)

The WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC) meets several times a year in Geneva.
